Mater Dei's Japan"Shrines and Martyrs of the Rising Son"
Join Mater Dei and Fr. Joe Baker, on this extraordinary pilgrimage tracing the spiritual history of Christianity in Japan! Pilgrims will travel through places made holy by martyrdom, missionary zeal, and quiet perseverance. Beginning in Nagasaki, the birthplace of Japanese Catholicism, pilgrims walk in the footsteps of the Twenty-Six Martyrs, the Hidden Christians, and St. Maximilian Kolbe, whose life of sacrificial love continues to inspire the Church. The journey continues through Hirado, Unzen, and Shimabara, where early missionaries and faithful believers endured persecution, offering their lives in witness to Christ, dying in horrendous ways so that the Church could survive in Japan. In Hiroshima, pilgrims will pray for peace and reconciliation at sites that call the world to repentance and hope. Traveling onward to Kyoto (Japan’s capital of culture), Mt. Fuji (Japan’s majestic natural beauty), and Tokyo (one of the world’s largest cities), the pilgrimage reflects on how faith endures within modern society. The journey culminates in Akita, a Marian pilgrimage site calling the faithful to prayer, repentance, and Eucharistic devotion. Throughout the pilgrimage, daily Holy Mass, prayer, and reflections invite pilgrims into deeper conversion, renewal, and trust in God’s providence.

BelgiumBruges, Antwerp, Leuven, Brussels, Dion-le-Val, American WWII Cemeteries, Our Lady of Scherpenheuvel and Our Lady of Beauraing, and more! Join us on this amazing journey to Belgium following the early lives of holy people like Saint Damian of Molokai and Adele Brice (the visionary who saw the Virgin Mary in Champion, WI, in 1859, an approved Marian apparition that gave brith to a deep Marian devotion in America, and built a beautiful Marian Shrine in rural Wisconsin). We will visit Adel's home town and parish as well as the port of emigration (Antwerp) where she left for America with the parents (putting a temporary halt to her vocation plans - God Had bigger plans for her). Visit the stunning city of Bruges, replete with amazing architecture and holy site and relics. Visit the port city of Antwerp, and taste the brewed fruits of Monks at a nearby Monastery! Visit the amazing University of Leuven, Belgium's largest Catholic University founded in 1575, and Bishop Ricken's Alma Mater. Visit and pray at the Marian Shrine of Our Lady of Scherpenheuvel and the approved Marian apparition site of Our Lady of Beauraing. Visit, pray and pay your respects at the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery. Many brave soldiers lost their lives here in courageous and incredible battles, defending the freedoms we enjoy today in America as well as in Europe. After this impactful visit, we continue to yet another famous cemetery, the Ardennes American Cemetery. Visit these famous and impacting American Cemeteries, with thousands of tombstones in perfect formation. As we walk by the thousands of tombstones, our group will pray a moving rosary for the many souls of the buried soldiers, and also for the protection of the many men and women in our Armed Forces, wherever they are in the world.
Immerse yourself in the long, historical and diverse culture of Belgium which gave the world some of the most amazing art and architectural beauty! Walking tour through Brussels as well as a bus panoramic tour of the most important sites, will ensure that we experience Belgium's Capital City and take many memories home. There is so much more!
